Quality & Inspection

Frontier is ISO 9001:2015 registered. The registration covers stamping with precision tooling, machining of stamped products, welding of aluminums and steels, and assembly and finishing of stamped and machined products.

A certificate on a wall is not quality, though. What matters is whether anyone can show you that a dimension held across a whole production run, not just at first article. That takes a room, instruments and data collection, and it is what the list below is for.

How quality actually gets built in

The largest single quality decision on any part is made before a single piece of metal is cut, during the engineering review. A tolerance the process cannot hold reliably will not be rescued by inspection; it will just be discovered later and more expensively.

The second is the tool. Our presses carry feed and tonnage monitoring, which tells you a die is beginning to wear before it starts making marginal parts. And because we maintain, sharpen and rebuild your tool for the life of the part at no charge, nobody here has any reason to run a tired die a few thousand hits longer. A shop that charges for maintenance has exactly the wrong incentive.

Statistical process control

Starrett SPC collection and PQ Gage Pack let us record dimensions through a run rather than at the ends of it. That turns "the parts were in spec" into something you can be shown rather than told, and it catches drift while it is still drift.

Purchase order review

Every order goes through a documented review with more than thirty check points before it reaches the floor. Most quality failures in this industry are not machining failures, they are somebody reading a revision level wrong, and that review exists to catch exactly that.

What we hold, plainly

ISO 9001:2015. We are not AS9100, IATF 16949 or ISO 13485 registered, and we will tell you so on the first call rather than three weeks into a quote. We source conflict-free.
